In my journey as a ebay seller, I have found many things that are helpful. One great resource I use nearly daily is the Ebay coach's VIP Library and the Ebay Coach's Forum.

Suzanne Wells is the author of the Stay at Home Mom's Guide to Successful Ebay selling.
I have read this ebook and and currently using her resources at the VIP Library as well. Through her and her free forum, I often post questions and get advice from many other experienced ebay sellers. I can also post advice on what I have learned so far to other sellers.

Please click on the links to the right to learn more.

While I am not making a living off of ebay currently, I am paying making a few hundred dollars a month. About as much as I do substitute teaching, and I don't have to pay for childcare. Currently my inventory is also free since I am literally selling junk from around the house and that others have given me. If I have a question about how to improve my photos, make my listings look nicer, or about international shipping these are the resources I use. I highly recommend them!

Tang Drink Mix Promo Items.

Many of my items are coming from old things around the family compound as I like to call it. There are barns and an abandoned house out here in the "pasture/desert."

The lady who owned the house must have loved Tang drink mix. In cleaning the place out I have found numerous tang jars. Most are just regular but there were some canisters that sparked my interest. So I listed a few. It was slow going at first but they have been selling out of my store.

I also found a set of these glass tumblers. I also picked up a trick in the meantime, using the white paper inside the jar to help the pattern show up better.

If there was a lesson to be learned here, it was patience. I put them in the store on GTC (Good until canceled) and forgot about them. It took a few months, but a couple of weeks ago I sold what I had listed but luckily had a few more and found a couple more designs. Pretty good for stuff I found forgotten and free!

Vintage Tenor Saxophone Mouthpieces

So far ebay has really been an interesting diversion that has shuffled a a little money my way and gotten rid of things that would otherwise be taking up space in storage.

However this week that may change for me.

For background I have been selling things from my father-in-laws estate. He was a high school band director and after he retired he worked as a road man for a few music stores and he also gave private lessons. So he had a bunch of "stuff" mouthpieces, reeds all kinds of things. When my husband was ready we sold a bunch of it to his high school band kids at fractions of the price. I sold a few things and got a feel for ebay but then I went back to work and the stuff sat in boxes again.

It was hard to get my husband really involved with this because he wants the retail price marked on the box. Most of the time the going rate on ebay for similar items is half that. I try to encourage him by reminding him we didn't buy the items so it is all profit for us.

Recently I have been listing the remaining supply and had gotten down the end. All I have left is the stuff that was ugly, probably his, not new pretty shiny stuff for the kids. I guess I shouldn't be so shocked to find out some of it is collectible and valuable. However imagine my surprise when the old looking mouthpiece that I was debating whether or not it was even worth researching, turns out to be possibly worth $450.00. A boost to finish listing what I have left for sure.

Just for fun, please pop over and take a look at my listings.

The first is a Selmer Soloist C** Scroll Shank Tenor Sax Mouthpiece

The second is a Vintage Brilhart Hard Rubber Tenor Sax Mouthpiece #4 this is the one I very nearly listed for a dollar because my first attempt to find anything about it was unsuccessful.

I'd welcome any comments or questions...

The Introductory Post

At this moment I doubt anyone will come around reading this anytime soon. SO I wonder what is the point, exactly.

Google Hits for one. I am trying to increase my ebay sales. There I said it. I am a money grubbing attention seeker.

I hope not, really I am just trying to figure out how to make a little extra income while staying home with the kids. One of those things I can do in between feeding animals and children, washing said children and their clothes and hanging them up to dry. Oh and dishes, I do a lot of dishes.

This staying at home thing is hard. Seriously much easier than the "vacation" I originally envisioned. The first time around I went back to work after a year, which was great while it stayed part time. Then it got to be full time because I can't seem to keep from butting my nose in and running the whole damn place. Maybe not exactly but it got out of hand.

So now we are back to being at home but that damn money thing is always coming up and we have a ton of junk around here that surely someone else wants and doesn't need to go in a landfill.

So there you have it. I am saving the earth with one ebay sell at a time. I like how I turned that around to make me look good. Maybe I should go into marketing?
